The department of Biotechnology is one of the renowned departments of Annai Velankanni College, which has Sophisticated Biotechnology equipments, tissue Culture laboratory and a Central generalized laboratory for practical and research work.
The department’s mandate is to develop skillful human resources from the rural background, in the field of Agriculture, Veterinary, Medicine, Biotechnology and Molecular Biology research.
This department enriches the students in advanced studies in biotechnology and makes them placement fit for national and international jobs.

The state level seminar was conducted to bring Scientists, Research Scholars and students to explore and discuss the prospects and trends in Biotechnology and Biodiversity in recent years.
